My grandfather had a thick Irish accent. His pronunciation of the word thing was ting. I was thinking about that while I drew all the tings in our country backyard. Among the tings I found was a lunar moth. It was lying dead in the grass. This strange creature has a four and a half inch wingspan. I didn’t know what it was so I had to look it up. Before I knew it, my sketchbook page was full of beautiful tings from the garden. It reminded me of the old Martha Stewart saying, “ Tis a good ting.”
