“Humans have had to shelter in place for a few weeks now. We animals having been sheltering in place for many many decades, except we do it in dirty, disgusting cages, cramped stalls, and unsanitary, windowless factories. Then we get murdered after a few weeks for a little extra added bonus. Plus, we don’t have Netflix, HBO, or smartphones. Maybe we get to see a Disney flick every so often but does that really count. Now you all get a taste of what it’s like to be separated from loved ones and held against your will. So maybe think twice about having a hamburger or fried chicken when you sit in front of your flat screen to watch “Top Chef” while social distancing. Don’t even think of asking us to social distance from one another, that would be impossible.”
Corona Tiger
By now most people know that a tiger at the Bronx Zoo in New York caught the Coronavirus from a human. In fact, they think more animals have caught it but they only tested the one tiger. Being vegan, I am not a fan of zoos or aquariums to begin with. Leave the animals alone in the wild I say. Eating animals at this moment in time doesn’t seem like a good idea either if you know what I mean. A lot of people told me to watch this, Tiger King, on Netflix. I could not get through one episode. There was so much animal abuse with them locked in cages, inbred, and used to make money. It turned my stomach so I shut it off. Animals are our friends and carrots are food. That’s the way it is in my house anyway.
Cardinal Voiello
My favorite tv series happens to be a show that I don’t really understand at all and I do mean NOT AT ALL. It’s HBO’s The Young Pope and The New Pope. Each scene is like a gorgeous painting. It’s an incredibly over indulgent masterpiece that I couldn’t tell you a single thing about. You could probably watch it with the sound off. I couldn’t take my eyes off a single minute of it. I devoured each episode visually. It’s directed by the genius, Paola Sorrentino. My sketch is of the actor, Silvio Orlando who steals every scene he’s in, playing Cardinal Voiello. I don’t recommend that anyone watch it because you will complain to me about what the hell did I love about this marvelous train wreck. I’ll have no answer for you.
Birthday
I have always shared a birthday with Eric Clapton. Decided to celebrate by drawing the other guy. By the way it’s Van Gogh’s birthday too.
Coronavirus Hand Washing
I haven’t heard of anyone else doing this. What I’ve been doing is washing 2 weeks worth of my hands all at one. I clean them in the washing machine and then hang dry. This way I just use them as needed. I always have a set ready to go.
Coronavirus
I did a drawing of what it feels like living precariously in New York right now. Life in the eye of a pandemic.
Lobster's Lives
I recently read, The Secret Lives Of Lobsters by Trevor Corson. I now know pretty much everything about lobsters and lobster fishermen. As you can see from my drawing, I know about things you will never understand. This is the sentence where I inform you that we shouldn’t eat any of these lovely creatures. Today seems to be as good a time as any to stop eating animals.
Elle Magazine
I condensed an entire issue of Elle magazine into 2 pages of my Moleskine book.
National Geographic
I bought a recent copy of National Geographic before taking a flight. I then condensed the entire issue into this single illustration.
Eyecare
I did a drawing of my morning routine to get my eyes kickstarted.
Page O Shells
Just did my annual trip to Florida. Sat on the beach and cracked open my sketchbook. This happened.
Woman With Birds
Hiding in plain sight.
